Summer is here and it often seems that things slow down, as folks are away, traveling, or visiting with loved ones. But the work of St. John’s goes on! Please mark your calendars for the following events! SAVE THE DATES!!!!! August First Sunday Potluck – August 6 – Summer Salad Extravaganza! Bring your best! We will also be celebrating Royce Tasker’s 100th Birthday here at the church during the potluck.Cake will be served. And please welcome Fr. Ashley Classen back as our guest celebrant this Sunday! We are so grateful for him! August 8 – Royce’s actual birthday!He will be honored at Traditions Assisted Living Center, 505 FM 1417 at NOON. The VA will be present, and also a TV station will cover the event. August 19, Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Daughters of the King Pancake Breakfast here at the church.All ladies of the church and community are invited to attend. September Potluck: Sunday, Sept. 3Theme is Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner! Bring your best, plus sides and desserts! Tuesday, Sept. 5: 1st Tuesday Men’s Speaker’s Dinner, 6:00 p.m. Our first guest speaker will be Mr. Bert Garcia, Federal Judge (Ret.) He will speak on the OK Corral and the History of the West. Fellowship begins at 6:00 p.m. with drinks off your choice, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Please consider a $10 donation to cover the cost of the meal and drinks. November 4 – Diocesan Convention, Dallas November 10 – Fall Fest, 6-9 pm There will be NO First Sunday Potluck in November.St. John’s will host a parish wide THANKSGIVING MEAL on Sunday, November 19 immediately after the service.The church will provide smoked turkeys and ham.
